Defining and Quantifying the SSE

Indicators and Measures of Impact

Measurement Of The Size And Weight Of The SSE Sector

Coordinated by : TIESS

Gathering statistics on the social and solidarity economy (SSE) poses a number of challenges unique to each institutional system. In some countries, significant advances in data collection have already been made while other regions have still not been able to narrow down their field of study. The debates surrounding the definition of the SSE are far from being settled and the issues raised, particularly in terms of political recognition, should not be underestimated. In spite of this, is it possible to go forward with the implementation of a SSE data collection system which can lay an empirical foundation for the debates without diluting individual contributions, the capacity for innovation and the social dimension of these businesses? This working group will try to throw light on the question by offering researchers and practitioners in the field an opportunity to share their various experiences in order to advance in their practices.
